Building Character in the next generation

The Oklahoma Defenders are working with Tulsa and surrounding area schools to enhance students' and teachers' successes in No Child Left Behind and other development programs with the purpose of encouraging and rewarding children and youth in their academic and social growth.

We are making tickets to our games available to the schools to enable teachers and staff to reward excellence in decision-making, effort, and achievement, in grades three through five— especially in situations where rewards are rarely available. We want to help build character in the next generation.

Our goal is to promote and recognize achievements both in the schools and in the community. We will make as many tickets available as possible so entire families can participate with the kids who are rewarded. We believe this program will elevate character development and performance, as well as give them a great personal and family experience at our games. With that happening, we expect the entire family to encourage their student to return to school and make similar decisions so that a pattern of good decision-making and character development will be reinforced again and again.

Corporate participation is needed in order to help underwrite this program so it's long-term impact and benefits can be maintained and improved.
